CamSIS

Work to design the improved functionality has started following a workshop with key administrative users in February.

2 March 2018

The situation

The University has procedures in place for when students require access arrangements for examinations. These may include extra time, use of a word processor, a separate room or a scribe for written exams, or support for candidates during a viva.

Applications for exam access arrangements are made in CamSIS via a student's College.

The majority of information supporting applications for exam access arrangements is not currently stored in a central system which compromises the University's ability to a) anticipate a students need in future years of study and b) forecast numbers year on year. The General Board's Education Committee Examination Review report highlighted that the processes need improving, especially as there are rising number of requests for exam access arrangements.

Aim and benefits

The aim is to streamline and simplify the application process for Colleges as well as improve the approval and notification processes. These improvements will allow quicker resolution of queries and allow Colleges to track applications through the process. The project board expects will also reduce students' waiting time for decisions.
